IAEA debates taking Iran to Security Council

Mohamed ElBaradei
Sir,
Given the rhetoric from Iran’s leaders it seems clear to any rational person that the only thing that one can be confident about is that Iran will use a nuclear weapon once they succeed in building it.
I learned in political science class that confidence building must begin with the expectation that the parties desire to reach a peaceful solution. I ask where is the evidence of this in Iran’s action?
Words are cheap it is actions that speak the truth.
Iran’s actions belie their rhetoric.
The international community must not wait until this gathering storm reaches its peak. The world must act and soon if a catastrophic downward spiral is to be avoided. Once a rogue state uses or provides a nuclear device to a terror group for use against the west the genie will be out of the bottle forever and the world will become a battlefield of wasted cities.
Will the world simply wring its hands when one or more of these cities is obliterated?
London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, New York, Tokyo, Moscow.
I don’t think so. I think vengeance will win out and many cities will be destroyed in retaliation. Indeed, I don’t think it beyond the realm of possibility that entire nations may be wiped from the face of the earth.
You, Mr. Baradei are the primary individual who may be able prevent this. History will judge your actions. Will you be seen as a fool who waited too long or as a bold leader who recognized danger and acted?
