Responsible Journalism

The October 4th column by Charles Richardson in the Macon Telegraph is blatant example of irresponsible journalism. It contains several factual errors. I have documented these errors and will post them here if the Telegraph fails to publish a retraction of this hatchet job. I have provided them with the evidence of the errors with links to credible sources.

What is a hate crime?

The recent crime spree in south Georgia brings a disturbing question to the forefront.

MIKE LEWIS, GBI SPOKESPERSON:

“I think they were targeted largely because they are Hispanic, largely because they are known to carry cash, and I don’t think, at this time, it would be premature to say they were attacked and killed merely because they were Hispanic.”

Good guy vs Bad guy “at last”

This event came to the conclusion I predicted on the first day. Furthermore, we now find out some more details that make the delay even more inexplicable.

Here are the details:

Residents are at home with lights on watching TV and hear someone on the porch.

They turn TV off as well as flashing lights in an attempt to make the house appear occupied.

Bad guy starts trying to get doors and windows open and residents retreat up stairs to second floor. Female calls 911 while male stands guard near top of stairs.

Bad guy breaks window and enters house
