Troop withdrawals from Iraq and a Democratic view through rosy lenses.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and make a prediction.

I believe the administration has always planned to withdraw troops after the December Iraqi elections. Indeed this has been stated or implied on several occasions. I think the Democrats are making their current frenzied push for withdrawal in an effort to position themselves to take credit for pushing the president into bringing the troops home.

I don’t think it will work in the long term but may play a role in the mid-term elections. The Democrats simply can’t seem to grasp the fact that most Americans are beginning to wise up to their disarray and demagoguery. The Democratic leadership cannot accept the fact that there are citizens who can actually think for themselves and look at the larger over arching picture with a global perspective.

Only the radical left which hates almost everything about America anyway and those with no grasp of world history can actually view an abrupt US withdrawal as a positive plan.

If you pull back and take a dispassionate look at this Bush presidency using the lens of history. It seems likely that it will go down as one of the better presidencies of modern times.

This is a president who has followed his own inner beliefs even when they conflicted with his campaign rhetoric. He responded in a decisive manner when the country was attacked. His decisiveness on both Iraq and the domestic fronts has largely mitigated the worst potential effects of some of the worst events in the nations recent history.

Democrats continue to raile at these policies at their own risk. The American people are not stupid and will punish a party that gets to big for its britches. Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are not even close to the character of Bob Dole and Newt Gingrich.

Where is the Democratic “Contract with America“. Where are the ideas, the plan, the vision? What does an America under Democratic leadership look like?

I think they are afraid to tell us since they know a majority of American are likely to reject their vision.
